(KI)NDS, the Kindred Individuals and Neurodiverse Students society, centers a neurodiverse perspective in all society events. We aim to create an inclusive community that is mental health and neurodiverse aware, and go beyond that to include different perspectives through educative events.

Our anticipated events:
– Body Doubling study sessions
– Relaxation and stim drop-in events
– Educative events on inclusive and neurodiverse-safe language and demeanour
– Hangouts geared towards shared interests

For decades, the Ahlul-Bayt Society (ABSoc) has been a haven for Shia students across 150+ campuses in the UK, US, Canada and Australia, driven by the intellectual and spiritual legacy of the Prophet’s Household (peace be upon them). ABSoc is a community dedicated to preserving and practicing the teachings and values of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his family at The University of Sydney. We are a community where students can connect with their Shia identity with like-minded peers.

We host regular social events, informal discussions, guest talks, charitable projects, collaborations with other ABSocs, interfaith dialogues and commemorations of major events on the Shia calendar.

ABSoc supports our students in their education throughout the religious year with special considerations applications and mentorship programs.

The society emphasises the importance of the Ahlul-Bayt’s moral and theological insights, encouraging engagement through educational programs and study circles that explore classical Islamic texts and contemporary issues. Spiritual growth is central, promoting a deeper relationship with God through worship, reflection, and charity, following the Ahlul-Bayt’s example. We uphold the tradition of justice with political dialogue, leadership training and media experience.

AIESEC is the world’s largest youth-run organization that aims to enable young people to develop their leadership skills through learning from practical experiences in challenging environments. Present in over 120+ countries and having established roots in 11 Australian Universities including USYD, UNSW, MQ and UTS, AIESEC is a platform for youth to develop and nurture their skills with like-minded people and mentors. Affiliated with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, AIESEC aims to empower youth to become the leaders of tomorrow, facilitated by the numerous leadership programs we offer.

One of our current programs is AIESEC Experience, a semester-long program that includes events ranging from career orientated business forums and networking nights to help student’s future job prospects, to personal development workshops where we seek to assist students in developing themselves personally and professionally through value driven activities and spaces.

Also running this semester is our Heading to the Future program, a 2 week immersive workshop where students participate in soft skill and hard skills workshops facilitated by AIESEC as well as a professional industry partner. Previous partners have included Fulton Hogan, HASLIN and West Region Delivery Team in which you may score an internship following the completion of the program.

Joining AIESEC is a chance to grow as a young leader while building real-world skills in a dynamic, team-driven environment. Each portfolio offers unique opportunities:

MaC (Marketing and Communications): Build skills in content creation, branding, social media strategy, and digital marketing.
ER (External Relations): Develop confidence in pitching, negotiation, and professional relationship management through sponsor and partner outreach.

BarberSoc is a place where we sing a cappella tunes, running the gamut of pop, barbershop, choral, indie, original songs, and much more! The focus is on making good music and good vibes with good people. We groove hard, but we care harder 🙂

Boardgame Society (BGS) is a University of Sydney Union society that aims to organise boardgame activities for the student body, to enrich their on-campus life and facilitate free discussion among student groups who share a passion for board games, and cultivating a competitive and friendly spirit among students.

Particularly, BGS will focus on Mandarin-based board games such as Live Action Role Playing (LARP), Werewolf, Avalon, and Three Kingdoms to promote multiculturalism and bonding between diverse student groups.

Our society’s events are divided into two main categories: regular weekly board game sessions and the Grand Prix Competition.

BGS will host featured board game sessions once a week: Werewolf, Kill Game, Three Kingdoms, Avalon, LARP and more. Sessions will take place either at USU venues or off-campus locations, with details announced through our official social media channels (e.g. WeChat, Instagram) and via email for major events.

Each semester, alongside regular sessions, BGS will organise the Grand Prix Competitions. Based on community interest, the most popular game (e.g. LARP) will be selected for a tournament. The winners will receive awards. Additionally, BGS may host large themed events or immersive game adventures.

Camden Farms Student Society is a free society run by 3rd year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine students. CFSS encourages all students who are based at or have classes at the Camden campus to join, no matter what they are studying. However anybody is more than welcome to join!

The USYD Comm-STEM Society is for those studying combined Comm/STEM degrees at the University of Sydney, or with an interest in the intersection and interaction between business, science and engineering. The society was founded in 2019 when a need to bridge the two degrees was realised. Since then, the society has hosted numerous events such as case competitions, discussion panels, industry tours amongst others that have helped our community use their degrees to their fullest potential. Bridging the gap between art and technology,
Cut Cable offers a collaborative space for Students with any level of tech experience to build creative tools for artists or use existing tech to create Art!

whether you prefer coding at the keyboard or getting hands on with circuitry and soldering irons, come and build with us!

Get amongst other creative coders and use existing tools to create live-coded visual art and music.

Or build creative tools for artists yourself using software, hardware or both!
(We’ll use Arduinos, Raspberry Pis and more)

Those who are unfamiliar with soldering or coding can attend our introductory workshops!

Experienced members can attend our ‘Creator workshops’ where each attendee uses materials provided by the society to build a creative tool and make art with it.

WHAT?

A revue is a comedy sketch show written and performed by YOU! You’ll get to pitch ideas for sketches, workshop them and eventually collate them to make an hour and a half show that will be performed at the Seymour Centre! We’ll be looking for actors and writers, but also a creative team….

WHO?

ANYONE —you don’t even need to be a USYD student! Whether you love performing or prefer behind-the-scenes roles, there’s a place for you. We’re looking for actors, writers, musicians, dancers, photographers, set designers and choreographers. You just need to sign up on USU.
